My Educational Philosophies.
These statements are what I believe about teaching at this point in my life. As I make my way through this journey, I'm sure these beliefs will expand and change immensely.
- I believe that learning never stops, and is always ongoing
- I believe that you can never learn "too much"
- I believe that students can teach educators important lessons
- I believe that it is essential to have an open-minded perspective at all times
- I believe that knowledge is something we should take seriously, but also learn to have fun with
- I believe that there are numerous types of knowledge
- I believe that everyone learns in different ways
- I believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to learn and succeed
- I believe that the classroom should be an inclusive space
- I believe that the classroom should be an environment in which both teacher and student feel safe and comfortable to express themselves
- I believe that education should be based on the value of respect
- I believe that it is important to account for each student's individual needs, but still, treat the classroom as a whole
- I believe that teachers must acknowledge that they will make mistakes, but have the strength to reflect and learn from them
